Liang Nan Attends the Year-end Appreciation Evening of BARIC
On January 16, Liang Nan, Deputy Administrator of CAAC, attended the Year-end Appreciation Evening of BARIC, at which she encouraged foreign airlines from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan to develop in China in an effort to jointly promote the prosperity of the international air transport market.
In her speech, Liang Nan pointed out that in the past two years, promoting the resumption of international flights and supporting the development of foreign airlines in China have always been one of the key priorities of CAAC. To this end, CAAC has set up a task force to strengthen inter-departmental coordination and collaboration in CAAC, continued to increase policy supply, expanded the market scale, constantly optimized the operation environment, and strengthened and improved services. Thanks to the joint efforts of all parties, international flights increased to 6,400 per week in 2024, returning to 84 % of the level before COVID-19.
Liang Nan indicated that with the growth of Chinese household's income, upgrading of consumption structure, acceleration of urbanization, and in-depth implementation of all-round opening up, China's air transport market will embrace unprecedented opportunities for development with great potentials and vitality. In 2024, China's air transport turnover, passenger traffic and cargo and mail transport all stood records high, and the population of air travelers ranked first in the world. Passenger transport is expected to grow in 2025 to reach 780 million. Liang welcomed more foreign airlines to increase flights and benefit from shared growth opportunities, and noted that CAAC is ready to work with all parties to promote the sustainable development of international aviation, strengthen connectivity and improve the well-being of people around the world.
